ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 12: To stop the unauthorized usage of mobile SIMs, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has unveiled a comprehensive plan.
PTA has acquired data from NADRA to identify and prohibit unlawful SIMs in an effort to address the problem. The purpose of this action is to safeguard citizen data and stop unlawful activity.
In three stages, PTA will block unlawful SIM cards. SIMs registered on canceled or fraudulent CNICs will be the focus of the initial phase. While SIMs registered in the names of deceased people would be blocked in the third phase, the second phase will concentrate on SIMs registered on expired CNICs. This step-by-step method guarantees a methodical and effective blocking procedure.
PTA has sent letters to subscribers asking them to update their SIM data as part of a public awareness drive. The authorities stresses that in order to prevent any difficulty, user information must be updated and verified. On August 16, the phase-wise blocking process will start, which is a big step in the direction of a secure communication network.
Since fake SIMs are being utilized in a variety of criminal operations, PTA emphasizes that using unlawful SIMs will not be tolerated. The authorities are committed to eradicating this threat and protecting the integrity of the telecommunications industry.
