An effective raid against a telecom franchisee at Kot Addu was carried out by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, working closely with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Lahore. It was discovered that this franchisee was complicit in the unauthorized SIM issuance.

166 fingerprints, a laptop, and a cell phone were taken from the franchisee during the raid. These devices were seized by the FIA team as proof.

An FIR has been filed by the agency, and one person was taken into custody immediately. The FIA is looking at the matter more. This action was conducted in response to a complaint about the unauthorized activation of SIM cards through the sales channel that PTA Zonal Office Lahore submitted with the FIA.

The crackdown demonstrates the Authority’s commitment to eliminating the threat and is a component of PTA’s continuous efforts to limit the unauthorized issuing of SIM cards.
