Islamabad, Jan 28: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has introduced a groundbreaking bill payment solution via WhatsApp in collaboration with PayFast, a licensed Payment Service Provider (PSP) regulated by the State Bank of Pakistan. This new service allows PTCL customers to view and settle their bills directly through WhatsApp, marking a significant advancement in the country’s telecom industry and digital customer service.

The official launch ceremony took place at PTCL Headquarters in Islamabad, where key representatives from PTCL, PayFast, and eOcean were present. This partnership offers a range of payment options, including major banks and mobile wallets, for enhanced customer convenience. The integration of the service is powered by eOcean, a leading cloud communication provider.

To use the service, customers simply need to enter their CNIC and account number on the WhatsApp platform, verify the transaction with an OTP sent to their registered mobile number, and instantly receive a payment receipt within the chat. Beyond bill payments, PTCL’s WhatsApp bot provides various features, such as real-time troubleshooting, bill inquiries, tax certificate retrieval, and the ability to subscribe to additional services like Flash Fiber bolt-ons.

Syed Atif Raza, Group Chief Commercial Officer of PTCL & Ufone 4G, highlighted that this initiative is part of PTCL’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at improving customer experience. He expressed pride in pioneering this innovative solution in Pakistan through the partnership with PayFast, setting a new industry standard for customer service.

PayFast’s Chief Business Officer, Mahwish Saad Khan, emphasized that this collaboration is a key milestone in revolutionizing digital payments in Pakistan. The integration of PayFast’s secure and user-friendly payment systems with PTCL’s WhatsApp bot makes transactions more accessible and safer for customers across the nation.

Altaf Siddiqui, Director of Products at eOcean, shared his thoughts on the potential of WhatsApp chatbots for telecom providers, noting that the platform’s wide reach and user-friendliness make it an ideal tool for enhancing customer engagement and service delivery.

The launch of this WhatsApp bill payment solution is a significant move towards digital innovation in the telecom sector, demonstrating PTCL, PayFast, and eOcean’s commitment to enhancing customer interactions and advancing the digital economy in Pakistan.
