Islamabad, Oct 18: PTCL’s Acquisition of Telenor Set to Bring Cutting-Edge Technologies and Enhanced Services for Customers. Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is eagerly awaiting regulatory clearances for the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan, a strategic move that is poised to transform Pakistan’s telecom sector.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of GITEX in Dubai, PTCL’s President and Group CEO, Hatem Bamatraf, said the strategic acquisition is anticipated to boost the market and allow the company to make larger investments in new infrastructure and technologies, which will ultimately benefit customers with improved services.

According to Bamatraf, “we think it’s a great step, not only for PTCL but actually for the entire telecom market and Pakistan.”He drew attention to the worldwide trend of in-market consolidations, particularly in developing nations where consumers’ purchasing power is lower than in developed nations.

“There are a lot of sophisticated markets with three or even two participants. Consolidation is therefore even more crucial to have customer-centric players in emerging markets like Pakistan, whose purchasing power is not comparable to that of other developed economies,” he noted.

Following its acquisition of Telenor Pakistan, PTCL hopes to establish a more specialized organization that can make investments in state-of-the-art infrastructure and technologies. The people of Pakistan should anticipate unprecedented access to technology and experience following the acquisition. “This is our commitment and our promise,” Bamatraf reassured.

He went into additional detail about the acquisition’s wider effects, saying that it would increase market competition, which would eventually benefit customers. “This will lead to an environment that will enhance and raise the degree of competition, which will ultimately benefit the customers of the telecom market in Pakistan,” he stated.

In addition to improving telecom services, PTCL hopes to be a key player in Pakistan’s digital revolution. “We think the telco today is a facilitator of the digital economy and digital transformation for so many countries, and Pakistan is no exception,” Bamatraf said.

He underlined that PTCL’s goals are in line with the government’s strategic focus on the digital economy. “The Pakistani government has repeatedly stated that the digital economy is their primary focus and that they aim to establish Pakistan as a leader in digital transformation and the digital economy,” he continued.

Bamatraf emphasized that PTCL is dedicated to serving as a facilitator and a means of achieving the nation’s digital goals.”As a telco, or technology player as we like to call ourselves, we are doing our part to be an enabler and become the vehicle to fulfill the country’s and the government’s desire to achieve the digital goals,” he stated.

Customers as well as the economy and the country’s general development are expected to gain a great deal from the acquisition. In fact, Bamatraf stressed, “the integration of Telenor will result in a significant value contribution to the customer, the economy, and the overall progress of the nation.”

In response to possible employee worries about the transaction. Bamatraf emphasized the value of candid communication and staff involvement. “I firmly believe that the people who work for an organization are the most important component of its success,” he said. “You must keep the staff informed and in constant communication.

You must foster an atmosphere of openness where people are comfortable expressing their thoughts and aren’t afraid to voice their opinions or provide solutions. Regular town halls and informal gatherings with staff groups are only two of the activities that PTCL has put in place to promote this atmosphere.

“I regularly hold town hall meetings with the populace. Additionally, I regularly have informal meetings with groups of people,” Bamatraf revealed. “We have various forums that are primarily for the management and operations of the business. But I use these forums to inform people about the market’s developments and strategy.”

Telenor Pakistan’s integration has made it even more important for PTCL to communicate with its employees. It has become increasingly crucial for us to connect with people on a regular basis since the incorporation of Telenor will also cause a lot of anxiety among the populace, he said.

Driven by a customer-centric market player with larger investment capacity. The purchase represents a key milestone in Pakistan’s telecom industry. Promising not only better services for consumers but also a leap ahead in adopting innovative technology.
