Islamabad, Feb 14: The Punjab Education Department has finalized the academic schedule for the 2025-26 year, announcing that classes will commence on April 1. In preparation for this, the department has also outlined the schedule for the upcoming annual exams for the 2024-25 academic session. The exams are set to take place from March 10 to March 20, 2025, across over 42,000 government schools in the province, with more than 6.5 million students expected to take part.

The results of these exams will be announced in the last week of March. In addition to the regular schedule, significant changes have been introduced to the examination format for matriculation students. One of the key adjustments is the revision of the marking scheme for Islamic Studies and Pakistan Studies. Previously assessed with a total of 50 marks, both subjects will now be marked out of 100 each. Islamic Studies will be evaluated in the ninth grade, while Pakistan Studies will be examined in the tenth grade.

These changes are part of a broader effort by the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) to improve the academic standards of students. The updated syllabus reflecting these changes has already been integrated into new textbooks, and the printing process for the revised materials is currently underway.

Education officials believe that the changes will provide students with a deeper understanding of these critical subjects, thereby enhancing the overall academic experience. The department anticipates that these revisions will have a positive impact on the quality of education in the province.
