Islamabad, Oct 29: Punjab Outsources 150 Health Units for Improvement
The Punjab administration has chosen to outsource basic health units (BHUs) throughout the province, according to 24NewsHD TV.
According to sources, 150 BHUs would be outsourced in the first phase by the Department of Primary and Secondary Health Care. About 100 of these will run during regular business hours, and 50 will provide services around-the-clock.
In this initial round, eight BHUs in Lahore would be contracted out. Every year, the government intends to set aside Rs 500,000 for each health center’s upkeep.
The Department of Primary Health has asked the Provincial Finance Ministry for Rs 1.5 billion to begin the project.
