This prompt response comes after a slew of events in which videos of female staff members and Punjabi police officers went viral on social media.
The Punjab Police Inspector General (IG) has released a thorough social media usage guideline for all officers and staff in response to the Chief Minister’s direction.
The updated policies come with a strong warning: employees who share recordings while wearing their uniforms risk serious repercussions within their department.
The Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Operations has provided detailed instructions for the new social media strategy in accordance with directives from the Inspector General.
According to these guidelines, all social media activity needs to be authorized by the head of the relevant unit or the District Police Officer (DPO).
The guidelines expressly forbid private persons from creating social media content utilizing police cars or facilities in order to uphold professional boundaries.
The Punjab Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and unit leaders bear the primary duty for implementing the new rules, and they will be held personally liable for ensuring compliance within their respective areas of authority.
