Islamabad, Dec 17: The Punjab Traffic Police has reinstated the 42-day waiting period for motorcyclists applying for a permanent driving license after the temporary relief period ended on December 15. During the relief period, motorcyclists could apply for a permanent license immediately after obtaining a learner permit.
Strict Enforcement: Additional IG Traffic Mirza Faran Baig emphasized that strict enforcement of traffic regulations will begin, with no leniency for those driving without a valid license. Road safety remains a top priority for the department.
Impact of Temporary Relief: The temporary relaxation led to a significant surge in the number of licenses issued. Over 841,000 licenses were issued in November alone, including learner permits, new licenses, renewals, and international driving licenses.
24/7 Service: Licensing centers across Punjab operated around the clock to accommodate the growing demand during the temporary period.
Future Focus: The reinstatement of the waiting period is aimed at ensuring proper training and testing for motorcyclists, contributing to safer roads across the province.
The 42-day waiting period will allow the authorities to better assess and prepare applicants before issuing permanent licenses, ensuring enhanced road safety for all.
