Islamabad, Mar 12, 2025: In a proactive move to curb child abuse, the Punjab Home Department has mandated the inclusion of “Good Touch, Bad Touch” education in school curricula.
This initiative aims to equip children with essential knowledge about personal safety from an early age.
In an official notification to the School Education Department, authorities underscored the urgency of integrating child protection awareness into the primary education system.
The directive specifically emphasizes the inclusion of age-appropriate material to help children differentiate between acceptable and inappropriate physical interactions.
“Educating children on personal safety is now a fundamental necessity,” the directive stated. Plans are underway to create structured learning modules that explain physical boundaries in a child-friendly manner, ensuring that young learners grasp these crucial concepts effectively.
This initiative seeks to empower children with the confidence to report any form of inappropriate behavior, whether at home or in public spaces.
The higher authorities instructed the education authorities to collaborate with child safety specialists to design engaging and informative teaching materials.
“Children subjected to abuse often endure long-term psychological distress,” the document highlighted, reinforcing the preventive approach of this policy.

The Home Department stressed the importance of teaching children not to remain silent out of fear but to report misconduct and seek help.

Additionally, the Home Department is rolling out a province-wide awareness campaign in collaboration with the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau, further reinforcing the message of “Good Touch, Bad Touch.”
