Islamabad, Apr 7, 2025: As preparations for the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) gather pace, the Home Department in Punjab has formally requested the Ministry of Interior to deploy army troops and Rangers for enhanced security during the tournament.
Officials from the department noted that, due to the involvement of international players and officials, the PSL remains a high-profile event that demands stringent safety arrangements.
The request includes comprehensive protection not just at match venues but also along team travel routes and at the accommodations of players.

To assist local police forces, the department has recommended the deployment of one wing of Rangers and two army companies in each host city.
Their role will be to support civil administration in maintaining law and order, particularly during team arrivals, departures, and stays.
The presence of military and civil armed forces has been proposed under Article 245 of the Constitution and the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997.
Similar requests had earlier been made by the Cabinet Division, provincial governments, and the Chief Commissioner in Islamabad to bolster overall security measures.
