Islamabad, Aug 24: An important step in assisting the bereaved families of employees and officers who died while in service has been taken when the Punjab Cabinet authorized a set of payments for their families.

The Punjab Finance Department formally announced the allowances that will be given to the families of the deceased employees after the cabinet made its decision.

A house rent allowance, a 20% special allowance, a medical allowance, a utility allowance, and an ad hoc relief allowance are among the permitted allowances. The purpose of these provisions is to provide stability and financial support to families who have lost a loved one while serving in the military.

Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar presided over the meeting that resulted in the decision, and he gave Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil instructions to draft the required recommendations for these allowances.

This action is in line with the precedent that the Establishment Division set in February 2015 when it authorized a number of grants for officers who lost their lives while serving. These initiatives are sustained by the recently granted allowances by the Punjab Cabinet, which also provides further assistance to the families of public employees in the region.
