Lahore, April 07: In a special meeting of Transport Department of the Punjab Government chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif,  a in-principle approval of project to run 1500 electric buses for different cities were given.

Transport system comprising electric buses to be started in remote major cities of Punjab in phases one.

In the first phase, in order to complete the process of purchasing 380 electric buses, the CM ordered to finish the work as early as possible.

In this first phase, electric buses will be launched in Lahore and Gujranwala. Then the decision was also made to run the new transport system in six districts including Sargodha, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujrat, Rahim Yar Khan and DG Khan.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also set a deadline of coming June for Lahore, Gujranwala electric bus service.

On the similar lines, orange and red bus service would be started in Faisalabad. Faisalabad is the third largest city of the country after Karachi and Lahore.

Red bus service from Samandri Road to Sargodha Road and orange bus service from Jaranwala to Jhang Road will be started in Faisalabad.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also sought plans for electric bus service tracks for Faisalabad and Gujranwala.

A 15-day deadline to complete the planning of the Yellow Line electric bus track in Lahore has been set.

CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also approved the latest transport tower command and control center in Lahore.

“I am the Chief Minister of all, not only Lahore but also the people of other cities have full right to a modern transport system”, said, Maryam Nawaz Sharif during the meeting

Electric buses will be run in other cities to involve everyone in the journey of development”, added the CM Punjab.
