Back in January 14-time, French Open champion Rafael Nadal revealed that he has a hip problem that would make him retire soon and report having hip surgery that would be needed for him to play only 12-15 tournaments next year 2023.
The 38-year-old Spaniard shocked everyone when he decided to retire especially after being called up for the Davis Cup Final 8 set to be held in Malaga between the 19th and 24th of November this year.
After making his final competitive appearance in the July Olympics in Paris, he was unable to play in the Laver Cup and the U.S. Open because of fitness concerns.
In a moving video tribute, Rafael Nadal reflected on his career while expressing a range of emotions. “These past two years in particular have been quite challenging,” he said.
