Islamabad, Feb 19: In anticipation of Ramadan 2025, educational authorities in Pakistan have adjusted school schedules to accommodate the needs of fasting students and staff. Both Sindh and Punjab provinces have released revised timings for single and double-shift institutions, ensuring a conducive learning environment during the holy month.

Sindh Province: Revised School Timings

The Sindh Education Department has issued a notification detailing new school hours for Ramadan. These adjustments apply to primary, secondary, higher secondary, and elementary schools across the province.

Primary Schools:

  • Double-Shift Schools:
    • First Shift: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
    • Second Shift: 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM
  • Single-Shift Schools: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Fridays:

  • Double-Shift Schools:
    • First Shift: 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM
    • Second Shift: 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM
  • Single-Shift Schools: 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Secondary, Higher Secondary, and Elementary Schools:

  • Double-Shift Schools:
    • First Shift: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
    • Second Shift: 11:45 AM to 2:45 PM
  • Single-Shift Schools: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Fridays:

  • Double-Shift Schools:
    • First Shift: 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM
    • Second Shift: 11:45 AM to 1:15 PM
  • Single-Shift Schools: 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM

These modifications, directed by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, aim to facilitate a balanced routine for students and educators during Ramadan.

Punjab Province: Proposed Adjustments

The School Education Department in Punjab has suggested a reduction in school hours for Ramadan, with final approval pending. The proposal outlines the following schedules:

  • Girls’ Schools: 7:30 AM to 12:15 PM
  • Boys’ Schools: 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Currently, schools operate until 2:30 PM for boys and 2:45 PM for girls. The proposed changes would shorten the school day by approximately two hours, aligning with the needs of those observing fasting. These adjustments are expected to take effect from the first day of Ramadan, following consultations with relevant educational authorities
