Islamabad, Aug 24: Due to the Chehlum procession, all educational establishments—universities, colleges, and schools—within Tehsil Rawalpindi’s municipal boundaries—apart from the cantonment area—will be closed on Monday, August 26, 2024.
The Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Rawalpindi released a notification announcing the decision. The purpose of the closure is to guarantee the personnel and students’ safety and security throughout the religious ceremony.
The Services and General Administration Department (Welfare Wing) sent out a message on Tuesday announcing the news. All government offices in Lahore will be closed on this district-level holiday, with the exception of the Punjab Civil Secretariat, its Attached Departments, and Regional Offices.
In addition, the Sindh government has declared August 26 to be a holiday for all public and private schools in the region in honor of Hazrat Imam-e-Hussain.
All public and private educational institutions under the control of the Sindh College Education Department will be closed on Monday, August 26, 2024, in observance of Chehlum, according to a notice released on Friday. On this day, which falls forty days after Ashura, we remember the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) grandson, and other Karbala martyrs.
