Islamabad, Sep 14: Its latest innovation, Realme, a well-known smartphone manufacturer, seems to be taking a cue from Apple. Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Chase Xu recently hinted at a feature on an upcoming Realme device that looks similar to the new Camera Control button on the iPhone 16 series.

Xu displays what he refers to as a “button” that isn’t a real button in a Weibo video. Rather, it’s a pressure-sensitive region with an accurate haptic motor that aims to simulate the feeling of pushing a real button. This technology closely resembles the strategy used by Apple in their most recent flagship models.

Xu’s presentation suggests that this new functionality offers several in-app settings, including Zoom, and lets users easily activate the camera app. Even though Xu seems to be showcasing a pre-production prototype, the present implementation might not look as polished as Apple’s version. It’s likely that the function will be improved much more before the smartphone is formally released.

Chase Xu speculates in his Weibo post that Realme’s new feature uses technology akin to Apple’s Camera Control key. He makes it clear that this innovation isn’t going to be included in the much awaited Realme GT7 Pro flagship, though.

It seemed to be intended for an alternative, as-yet-unannounced product in the company’s portfolio. According to Xu’s demonstration, Realme has been working on this technology for a while. The functionality seems to be almost ready for release.
