Islamabad, 24 Apr, 2024: The Prime Minister’s Laptop initiative has officially been revived for 2025, with the government pledging to distribute 100,000 laptops to talented students from across Pakistan.

This marks a renewed commitment to bridging the digital divide and expanding access to educational technology under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme.

The announcement was made as part of the broader “Digital Youth Hub” campaign, which aims to equip young Pakistanis with essential digital tools to help them thrive in an increasingly technology-driven economy.

Authorities have confirmed that the selection will be conducted entirely on merit, ensuring a transparent and fair distribution process.

Officials stated that the Prime Minister’s Laptop project is open to students from all disciplines, reinforcing the government’s goal of fostering inclusive access to education and technical resources.

By focusing on capability rather than background, the scheme is expected to benefit a wide array of students, from engineering and IT to social sciences and humanities.

To streamline applications, a digital platform has been developed for interested candidates. Students can apply through the official Digital Youth Hub portal at www.pmyp.gov.pk or download the dedicated mobile application, available on both Android and iOS.

The mobile app is designed to make the process more accessible, particularly for students in remote areas.

The deadline to submit applications is May 20, 2025, leaving applicants with less than a month to complete the process.

Education analysts have welcomed the relaunch of the laptop programme, highlighting its importance in helping students conduct research, attend virtual classes, and build digital skills that are increasingly essential in today’s global job market.

Government representatives have emphasized that this initiative is not just about handing out devices, but about investing in the country’s future by creating a digitally empowered generation.

As Pakistan moves toward a more tech-integrated education system, initiatives like this are seen as key to enabling the country’s youth to compete on a global stage.
