Islamabad/Dubai: Remittance inflows from the Pakistani community residing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are anticipated to cross the $7 billion mark in 2025, building upon the $6.7 billion recorded in the previous year.

This projection was shared by Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, underscoring the growing economic contributions of the overseas Pakistani population.

In a statement issued to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Ambassador Tirmizi remarked that these remittance figures are not only a testament to the robust economic ties between Pakistan and the UAE, but also reflect the vital role that the Pakistani diaspora continues to play in sustaining Pakistan’s economy.

He noted that bilateral trade between the two countries has also shown promising growth.

During the first six months of the ongoing fiscal year, trade volumes rose by 21.63 percent.

Pakistan’s exports to the UAE, in particular, registered an increase of 7.53 percent, further consolidating the Emirates’ status as one of Pakistan’s most significant economic partners.

In recent years, the UAE has emerged not only as the largest trading partner in the Gulf region for Pakistan but also as one of the top contributors to the country’s remittance inflows.

The ambassador elaborated on the deepening economic partnership, pointing out that around 19 Emirati companies are currently operating within Pakistan.

These firms have made considerable investments across a broad range of sectors, including telecommunications, IT, tourism, oil and gas, real estate, banking, and housing.

Companies such as Etihad Airways, Emirates, Emaar, and Dubai Islamic Bank have already established either full-fledged operations or representative branches in Pakistan, further cementing the relationship between the two countries’ private sectors.

Tirmizi highlighted recent strategic developments that indicate the UAE’s long-term commitment to Pakistan’s economic progress.

He attributed much of this renewed investment interest to the efforts of the Special Investment Facilitation Council, which he described as playing a crucial role in streamlining investment procedures and making Pakistan a more viable destination for foreign investors.

Turning to the Pakistani diaspora in the UAE—numbering over 1.5 million—the ambassador expressed gratitude for their unwavering support and called upon community members to uphold the local laws, cultural traditions, and digital regulations of their host country.

He encouraged the use of legal channels for remitting money back home and shared that the embassy had introduced an educational video guide to inform expatriates of their rights and obligations.

“You are the bridge between our two nations,” said Tirmizi in his address to the community, affirming that their positive conduct and contributions continue to strengthen the people-to-people connection between Pakistan and the UAE.

According to available data, the Pakistani community in the UAE represents the second-largest Pakistani diaspora globally, following Saudi Arabia.
