Islamabad, Apr 10, 2025: Following poor white-ball tour of New Zealand, Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam are likely to meet PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

The meeting is reportedly aimed at seeking clarity over their exclusion from the T20I squad and discussing the authority of Rizwan as captain.

A senior PCB official said the wicket-keeper batter was upset over their exclusion from the T20I series in New Zealand.

The decision was made to test younger players under the leadership of new captain Salman Agha.

Sources confirmed that the wicketkeeper-batter intends to approach the PCB chairman to better understand the reasoning behind his omission.

He is also expected to raise concerns about the limited influence he currently holds in team matters.

Rizwan, who was appointed white-ball captain last year, had previously been rested for the T20Is in Zimbabwe but led the side during the South Africa series.

After the loss in New Zealand, he expressed his disappointment, stating that decisions regarding squad selection were made without consulting him or Babar.

He suggested that they had accepted the call, though it was not communicated to them beforehand.

Further reports indicate that Rizwan disagreed with Aaqib Javed regarding the team composition in the first two matches of the New Zealand series.

Rizwan had reportedly demanded five specialist bowlers, but the team opted for only four, supplementing the attack with part-timers Salman Agha and Irfan Khan.

Rizwan may ask for more authority in team selection, and if his concerns are not addressed, he could consider stepping down from the ODI captaincy.

The PCB is believed to be in talks with several foreign coaches to replace Aaqib Javed. A few former Pakistani players are also being considered for the role.
