ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 9: The interbank rate remained at 278/$ for the majority of the day before closing at that level. Open market rates across multiple currency counters were strictly at the 278 level today. The Pakistani rupee (PKR) gained some ground against the US Dollar today, marking the second day in a row. It was stable all day and closed in the green against the greenback. Meanwhile, it posted gains against most of the other major currencies during the session.

The PKR gained 13 paisas versus the dollar today, or 0.05 percent, and ended the day at 278.55.
Thus far this fiscal year, the rupee has lost 0.07 percent of its value.

Since January 2023, the rupee has decreased overall by over Rs. 51.64. It has decreased by Rs. 95.64 against the US dollar from April 2022. The PKR gained around 14 paisas today based on the changes in currency rates that were observed during the session.

Against the majority of the other major currencies in the interbank market today, the PKR was up.It increased in value by three paisas versus the UAE Dirham (AED), four paisas versus the Canadian Dollar (CAD), 63 paisas versus the Euro (EUR), and three paisas versus the Saudi Riyal (SAR).

In today’s interbank currency market, it lost Rs. 1.24 versus the Australian Dollar (AUD) and Rs. 1.55 versus the British Pound (GBP).
