ISLAMABAD, JULY13: Drama fans have been happy for choice recently as Pakistani television starts to gradually move away from the image of the weepy woman. Gentleman has taken center stage, while Ishq Murshiq has kept viewers engrossed for an entire season.
However, there’s no need to throw away that remote just yet because, after months of speculation, the always endearing doe-eyed Sajal Ali has been confirmed as the lead opposite in Khalilur Rehman Qamar’s Main Manto Nahi Hoon, opposite the indomitable Humayun Saeed. Though drama aficionados have been speculating that the title may maybe connect to the late writer Saadat Hasan Manto, release dates and narrative specifics have unfortunately been kept under wraps thus far.
Viewers should reasonably expect good standards from the film, regardless of the subject matter, since Nadeem Baig is directing and the two leads, who are both known for carefully selecting their scripts, are working together.
Over her career, Sajal has deviated from conventional clichés. She is currently captivating audiences as Meenu in Zard Patton Ka Bunn and was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in March of this year. Her performance in Sinf e Aahan, a women-led drama on the struggles faced by women in the Pakistani army, is the best illustration of this.
