Islamabad, Dec 23: Samsung Galaxy S22 users are encountering serious issues following the One UI 6.1 update, ranging from minor display lag to critical boot loop failures that render devices unusable. Complaints have surged across Samsung forums, Reddit, and social media, with users demanding accountability from the company.

Key Problems Reported

  • Boot Loop: Many devices are stuck in continuous boot loops, making them inoperable. Attempts to resolve the issue through cache clearing, factory resets, or visits to Samsung service centers have proven ineffective.
  • Wi-Fi Triggered Restarts: Some devices restart repeatedly when Wi-Fi is enabled. Troubleshooting methods, such as resetting network settings, entering safe mode, or performing factory resets, have failed to resolve the problem.
  • High Repair Costs: Service centers have attributed the failures to motherboard defects, but warranty claims are often denied due to minor cosmetic damage like small screen cracks. Repair costs range from ₹41,000 (~$483) in India to over $600 in the UK, leaving users outraged.

A user in India reported their S22 Ultra becoming unusable after the update, resulting in data loss. Despite no prior issues, they were charged ₹41,000 for repairs. Similarly, a UK user criticized Samsung for linking the boot loop issue to minor screen damage, questioning why undamaged devices are also affected.

Another user shared how their S22 Ultra kept restarting when Wi-Fi was enabled, with no solution in sight.

A video on X (formerly Twitter) shows an S22 Ultra trapped in a boot loop. Service centers blamed the issue on a motherboard defect despite the absence of physical damage.

Lack of Response From Samsung

Samsung has not released an official statement addressing these widespread complaints. The silence has exacerbated user frustration, particularly given the Galaxy S22 series’ premium pricing. Calls for free repairs or refunds are growing as more cases surface.

The issues appear to stem from a possible software-related defect linked to the One UI 6.1 update. As users await Samsung’s response, the company faces increasing pressure to resolve the situation and restore customer trust. Further updates will be provided as the story develops.
