Islamabad, Jan 8: Samsung is gearing up to release its first tri-fold smartphone in the second half of 2025, following Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate, which debuted in September 2024. According to reports from Korea, Samsung will initially produce fewer than 300,000 units due to the complexity of the manufacturing process. However, if there is strong demand, the company may increase production in the future.

This innovative device is expected to carry the highest price ever for a Samsung foldable smartphone, offering unique features that differentiate it from competitors. Unlike the Huawei Mate XT, which leaves part of the screen exposed when folded, Samsung’s design will fully protect the folding screen, addressing durability concerns that have plagued foldable devices in the past.

Tri-Fold Mechanism and Screen Flexibility

The device’s tri-folding mechanism will provide flexibility in display sizes. When unfolded to the left, the screen will measure 10.5 inches, and by extending it further to the right, the display will expand to a massive 12.4 inches, approaching tablet size. Samsung Display will supply the screens for this device, ensuring compatibility with the innovative design.

However, the tri-fold smartphone will not feature an under-display camera, prioritizing durability and structural integrity over adding additional features. While the launch date remains uncertain, further information is expected to surface as Samsung prepares to unveil its Z series foldables later this year.
