Islamabad, Oct 7: The Ministry of Hajj in Saudi Arabia has released essential guidelines for pilgrims to ensure their safety and well-being during the ongoing Umrah season.

With the pilgrimage continuing, authorities have emphasized the significance of physical preparation, especially regarding foot care, to help worshippers perform rituals comfortably at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

Key Guidelines for Pilgrims

  • Foot Care: Pilgrims are advised against walking barefoot over long distances. It is recommended to wear comfortable footwear in non-prayer areas to prevent discomfort and injuries.
  • Rest Breaks: Worshippers are encouraged to take breaks whenever they feel tired to avoid exhaustion during the rituals.
  • Hydration: Staying hydrated is crucial; pilgrims should drink plenty of water, especially in the hot climate, to maintain their energy levels.
  • Meal Choices: To sustain energy throughout the pilgrimage, it is advisable to avoid heavy meals, opting for lighter options instead.

Overview of the Current Umrah Season

The ongoing Umrah season, which commenced after the Hajj in late June, follows last year’s impressive turnout of 13.5 million pilgrims. In response to this growing demand, Saudi Arabia aims to welcome 15 million pilgrims next year.

New Initiatives and Facilities

To accommodate the increasing number of worshippers, the Ministry has introduced new facilities and regulations, including an extension of the Umrah visa to 90 days. This initiative is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to enhance the pilgrimage experience and ensure that all worshippers can perform their rituals safely and comfortably.
