Islamabad, Apr 17, 2025: Saudi Arabia has launched an extensive development initiative to improve the Hajj 2025 experience, focusing on enhancing pilgrim comfort, safety, and efficient movement between key locations like Mina, Arafat, and Muzdalifah.
The plan includes the creation of shaded resting zones to protect pilgrims from the intense summer heat. In Mina, 50,000 square meters of walkways have been equipped with shading, and Arafat now benefits from a cutting-edge cooling and shading system covering 60,000 square meters.
At Jabal Al Rahma, mist fans and modern shelters have been installed over 785 square meters to offer relief from the heat.
These upgrades were reviewed at the first Hajj 1446 AH committee meeting, led by Deputy Governor Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, where officials discussed detailed plans for the upcoming pilgrimage season under the Vision 2030 reform agenda.
In Muzdalifah, Phase Two of the Holy Sites Path Project has enhanced both accessibility and safety over 170,000 square meters.
Furthermore, 28,000 square meters of rest areas have been set up along the pilgrimage routes, providing designated spots for pilgrims to rest and rejuvenate.

A major cooling initiative at Namira Mosque, spanning 85,000 square meters, incorporates advanced climate control systems to further alleviate heat stress.
In line with sustainability objectives, 10,000 trees are being planted across the holy sites to improve shade and air quality.
The water infrastructure has also been improved, with 400 new hydration stations providing easier access to drinking water.
To enhance emergency preparedness, 86 first aid centers have been established at strategic locations, alongside 135 pressure tank sites in Mina to ensure reliable water supply.
These comprehensive efforts aim to ease the spiritual journey of millions of pilgrims, particularly in light of the extreme heat challenges.
