Makkah- The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has warned against fraudulent Hajj companies, emphasizing that a Hajj visa is required to perform Hajj. This follows Iraqi authorities’ recent arrest of fraudsters, highlighting our commitment to combating these illegal activities.

A responsible source from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has issued a stark warning to those planning to perform Hajj rituals. It cautions against the growing menace of fake Hajj campaigns for 1445/2024, which are being widely advertised on social media platforms across various countries. It is crucial to understand that the Hajj can only be undertaken with a Hajj visa, issued by the relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia and coordinated with other countries through their Hajj affairs offices or via the ‘Nusuk Hajj’ platform for countries without official Hajj offices. The repercussions of falling for these fraudulent campaigns are severe, ranging from financial loss to the heartbreaking inability to perform the Hajj.
The source noted that the Ministry had identified advertisements from companies and campaigns, along with fake accounts on social networks, claiming to organize Hajj at enticing prices, urging caution in dealing with such campaigns and companies.
In this regard, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah deeply appreciates and commends the tireless efforts of the Supreme Commission for Hajj and Umrah in the Republic of Iraq, in close cooperation with the Iraqi authorities. Their swift action led to the arrest of more than 25 fictitious companies promoting commercial Hajj. The Ministry also extends its gratitude to all countries for their collective efforts in fighting this irregular phenomenon.
The Ministry reiterates its stance that visas for Umrah, tourism, work, family visits, transit, and other types do not qualify the holder to perform the Hajj. It underscores the importance of everyone’s adherence to the regulations and laws imposed by the official Hajj organizing authorities. It strongly advises against being misled by fraudulent companies and offices claiming to offer commercial Hajj campaigns and other such labels.
The Ministry remains vigilant and continues to closely monitor these fraudulent companies and campaigns. It earnestly hopes for everyone’s cooperation in combating and reporting them, thereby working to reduce unauthorized Hajj. It strongly encourages everyone to obtain official information by visiting the Ministry’s website and various social media channels, ensuring their safety and security.
