Islamabad, Nov 20: Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has urged TikTok to utilize its platform for educational purposes. Speaking on Wednesday, Khawaja emphasized the potential of TikTok to impart various skills and basic education, assuring the Ministry of IT’s full support in achieving this objective.

During a meeting with a TikTok delegation led by Director of Public Policy, Emir Gelen, Khawaja highlighted the importance of fostering quality and productive content on social media platforms. The discussion also included IT Secretary Zarrar Hasham Khan, who was present to support the conversation.

According to a news release, the meeting focused on areas of mutual interest, particularly the availability of valuable and educational content for users. The TikTok delegation provided an overview of the platform’s current initiatives in Pakistan and outlined plans for upcoming programs aimed at enhancing educational content.

Khawaja stressed the significance of making quality content accessible, noting TikTok’s extensive user base in the country. She highlighted that leveraging TikTok for educational purposes could significantly benefit users by providing engaging and informative content.

In response, the TikTok delegation assured the Minister that the platform would prioritize meaningful and educational content. They expressed their willingness to collaborate with the Ministry of IT & Telecom and its associated departments to develop and implement these educational initiatives effectively.

“This collaboration aims to transform TikTok into a valuable tool for education, reaching millions of users across Pakistan,” Khawaja stated. She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting platforms that contribute positively to the community.

The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to explore further opportunities for collaboration, ensuring that TikTok’s vast reach is harnessed to deliver impactful and educational content to Pakistani users.
