Islamabad, Mar 11 2025: More than 20 individuals linked to disturbances during the Sheffield derby between Sheffield United and Sheffield have been banned from attending future matches at both clubs.
According to South Yorkshire Police, unfortunate incidents occurred at Bramall Lane before and after the match on 10 November last year.
Following investigations, 22 people were identified and subsequently barred from stadiums in the future.
A police spokesperson confirmed that 10 individuals had already been charged, while others remained under investigation or awaited charging decisions from the Crown Prosecution Service.
It is also confirmed that two of those involved had received court-imposed football banning orders.
Authorities warned that failure to comply with such bans could result in a prison sentence of up to six months and a fine of up to £5,000.
Chief Superintendent Cherie Buttle stated that the force maintained a strict stance against disorder at football matches and elsewhere, emphasizing ongoing collaboration with local clubs to address anti-social behavior and violence effectively.
She further highlighted that banning orders played a crucial role in tackling repeat offenders involved in football-related disturbances.
With the next Sheffield derby set to take place on 16 March at Hillsborough Stadium, South Yorkshire Police confirmed ongoing coordination with Sheffield City Council to prevent further incidents and ensure public safety.
