Islamabad, May 1, 2025: In the aftermath of the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives, India has taken significant digital measures.
Among these is the restriction of several Pakistani celebrities’ Instagram accounts, including that of renowned actress Hania Aamir, making them inaccessible to users in India.
The decision to block these accounts stems from a legal directive aimed at curbing content deemed provocative or sensitive in the wake of the attack.
Hania Aamir, celebrated for her roles in Pakistani dramas like “Mere Humsafar” and “Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum,” expressed her sorrow over the incident, emphasizing the shared grief across borders.
This move is part of a broader crackdown by Indian authorities, which also includes the banning of 16 Pakistani YouTube channels accused of disseminating misleading narratives and content that could incite communal tensions.

While the Instagram accounts of several Pakistani artists have been restricted, some, like those of Fawad Khan and Atif Aslam, remain accessible in India, leading to discussions about the selective nature of these restrictions.
The Pahalgam attack, attributed to The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, has intensified Indo-Pak tensions, prompting India to implement various measures, including digital content restrictions, to address security concerns.
As the situation evolves, the digital landscape continues to reflect the broader geopolitical dynamics between the two nations.
