Islamabad,Sep 13: Chinese automakers GAC and Dewan Motors, senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon of the Sindh government announced plans to expedite the province’s introduction of electric taxis.
The main topic of discussion during the conference was the introduction of a green taxi service that would update public transportation while lowering pollution. Key participants at the meeting included Dewan Yousuf Farooqui, Sindh Transport Secretary Asad Zaman, and GAC members Zhu Song, Zhen Wen, and Zafar Hassan.
Zhu Song, general manager of GAC, discussed the advantages and technical features of electric cars as several approaches to the introduction of the taxis were considered. Minister Memon promised to streamline regulatory processes and offer infrastructure such as charging stations, assuring the participants of the Sindh government’s full support.
He emphasized that the province prioritizes reducing carbon emissions, and electric taxis would provide contemporary, safe transportation. Memon also revealed intentions to launch a “pink taxi” service designed only for female customers, guaranteeing their comfort and safety. A quick deployment planned, the electric taxi project is predicted to boost cleaner, more sustainable travel options in Sindh and generate job possibilities.
