To promote tourism and leisure activities within the region, the Sindh government has initiated a soft launch of water sports at Keenjhar Lake near Thatta District.

Zulfiqar Shah, Sindh’s Culture and Tourism Minister, announced the commencement of these activities on a trial basis, signifying a significant move towards establishing the area as a key tourist spot.

Last June, the Sindh government unveiled ambitious plans to construct a world-class tourist center at Keenjhar Lake, aiming to introduce water sports and paragliding activities.

A steering committee meeting, led by Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Shaikh, played a crucial role in this decision. Shaikh reaffirmed the government’s dedication to turning Keenjhar Lake into an appealing destination for tourists.

Covering an expanse of 24 square kilometers, Keenjhar Lake offers an ideal setting for developing a modern resort, with Shaikh noting efforts to pinpoint a suitable location for it.

Completion of this project is anticipated to not only enhance the area’s attractiveness but also facilitate significant tourism exchanges between domestic and foreign visitors. The envisioned tourist center will boast state-of-the-art facilities, ensuring a top-notch experience for guests. The introduction of water sports marks the initial phase of a broader development plan. The government anticipates that these initial activities will draw a steady flow of tourists, paving the way for further investment in infrastructure and amenities.

As the trial phase progresses, visitor feedback will be instrumental in refining the facilities and ensuring Keenjhar Lake’s sustained success as a premier tourist destination in Sindh.
