ISLAMABAD, AUGUST 17: To honor the urs of the renowned Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, the Sindh government has formally designated August 20, which occurs on a Tuesday, as a public holiday for the whole state.

Celebrated annually throughout Sindh, this occasion pays tribute to the poet’s legacy and is marked by a range of cultural and spiritual events. People can honor Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s contributions to Sufi literature and the rich cultural legacy of the area by celebrating this event.

The Sindh government has officially announced that on August 20, which is the 14th of Safar, all offices, educational institutions, businesses, autonomous and semi-autonomous organizations, and local councils that fall under its purview would be closed.

Nonetheless, this announcement will not impact critical services, which will keep running across the province. Every year on the 14th of Safar in the Islamic calendar, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s prayers will take place across three days.

Poetry marathons, literary conferences, and a host of other cultural events are anticipated as part of this year’s festivities, according to reports.
