Karachi: Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards of Education, Muhammad Ali Malkani, the has openly acknowledged that the preparations for the yearly matric examinations in 2024 are severely inadequate. He expressed surprise at the lack of testing locations, pointing out that applicants were uncomfortable taking the examinations because of congestion and poor conditions. Speaking at a Rose Educational Society ceremony honoring Lyari’s outstanding student Umar Farooq’s accomplishments, Malkani pledged action against accountable officials.
He highlighted the problem of overcrowded examination center, especially those conducted by the Board of Secondary Education in Karachi. He emphasized the necessity of taking immediate corrective action and promised to discipline any officers found to be at fault. In an effort to demonstrate accountability and openness, Malkani promised an open investigation into claims of results tampering in earlier matriculation exams.
Educationists commended Umar Farooq’s achievements and emphasized the value of developing and recognizing talent. Farooq, a Rose School student, received accolades for creating a creative application that converting text in Braille to assist the blind.
