Lahore, April 12: Apple users have been buzzing with anticipation ever since the company teased a major AI upgrade to Siri at its WWDC event more than a year ago.

The virtual assistant was set to become smarter, more personal, and deeply integrated across apps and screens but it looks like that dream will have to wait a little longer.

Where’s the Smarter Siri?

With the release of iOS 18, many expected Siri’s AI evolution to arrive yet the update dropped without any of the promised features. Instead of showcasing a more proactive, context-aware assistant, Apple kept things relatively unchanged.

Now, a new report confirms what many feared: Siri’s upgraded AI capabilities have been pushed to the fall, most likely aligning with the launch of iOS 19.

A Long Wait Since WWDC

When first introduced, Apple said the new Siri would learn from users’ behaviors, analyze messages, emails, and photos, and offer suggestions tailored to your lifestyle. It was also supposed to interact more meaningfully with on-screen content and third-party apps.

Those features, however, remain on the shelf: 15 to 16 months after the original reveal.

Why the Delay?

Behind the scenes, Apple is facing some serious challenges. The company is reportedly taking extra time to fine-tune its AI and machine learning models, which power Siri’s new personalization engine.

Another hurdle? Privacy. Apple is known for its strong stance on user data protection, and building a smarter Siri that’s also privacy-friendly has proven more complex than expected.

Apple is also working to ensure that when the new Siri does launch, it will be stable, accurate, and reliable — qualities that are non-negotiable for the brand’s ecosystem.

Frustration Builds, But Trust Remains

While fans may be disappointed by yet another delay, Apple’s decision likely comes down to one principle: quality over speed. Unlike some competitors, Apple prefers to polish features before releasing them to millions of users worldwide.

So yes, the wait is longer than expected, but if Apple gets it right, Siri could finally become the intelligent assistant users have long hoped for.

What’s Next?

We’ll likely hear more at WWDC 2025, where Apple is expected to unveil the first public preview of iOS 19 and showcase how Siri’s AI upgrade is shaping up. Until then, it’s a waiting game.

But one thing’s for sure: Apple doesn’t just want Siri to catch up. It wants Siri to lead.
