Islamabad, Sep 27: Sri Lankan Batter Equals the Record Of Babar Azam in Test Cricket

On the opening day of Sri Lanka’s second Test against New Zealand, Mendis scored an unbeaten half-century, marking his eighth consecutive 50-plus score in Test matches. This achievement ties him with Azam, who reached the same milestone in 2022.

Mendis’s latest half-century also establishes him as the first cricketer to score 50 or more in each of his first eight Test matches, breaking the previous record held by Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel, who had achieved the feat in seven consecutive matches.

Mendis’s consistent form since returning to the Test side has been impressive, making him a key figure in Sri Lanka’s batting lineup. His ability to deliver under pressure highlights his exceptional skill and resilience.

As the Test series against New Zealand progresses, all eyes will be on Mendis to see if he can extend his remarkable streak and set a new standard in modern Test cricket.
