Islamabad, Sep 24: Valve’s PC game retailer Steam achieved an unprecedented number of concurrent PC players when it reached 38,366,479 online at once. This achievement beats the previous record, which was established just last month, by more than a million people. The release of the much awaited Black Myth: Wukong is partly responsible for the spike in popularity.

New releases and longtime favorites propelled the most recent surge in user engagement. Well-known games like Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds were among the top 10 most played titles on Steam. It’s interesting to note that the phenomenon referred to as Banana has managed to hold onto its appeal without losing players.

An enormous portion of this record-breaking accomplishment was also made possible by new entries. Since its release earlier this year, Black Myth: Wukong has attracted a sizable player base. The debut of Space Marine 2, the complete release of Satisfactory 1.0, and Valve’s Deadlock are among the other noteworthy contributions.

The recent Steam releases of God of War Ragnarok and Final Fantasy 16, two PlayStation exclusive titles, gave the PC gaming scene a further boost. As the top digital distribution channel for PC gamers, Steam keeps growing stronger. In spite of rivals like CD Projekt’s GOG and the Epic Games Store, Steam continues to rule the PC gaming industry.

The introduction of the Steam Deck, a portable gaming device, has increased Steam’s user base even more. Users can enjoy more convenience and freedom by playing Steam games on the go with this portable gadget.
