Islamabad, Sep 2: Even though the new academic year began on August 15, Sindh’s government school children have not yet received their free textbooks because of administrative backlogs and persistent rain.

For many poor families, the government of Sindh’s slogan, “Parhay Ga Sindh tau Barhay Ga Sindh,” seems a long way off. Due to the unfulfilled promise of free textbooks and copies—which was promised upon admission—parents are having difficulty.

In an attempt to save money on education, many low-income families send their kids to government schools, yet they frequently come up short.

While parents are guaranteed textbooks each year, they sometimes wind up buying them at exorbitant prices on the open market in order to prevent interfering with their kids’ education.

The parents claim that the delay is because the Sindh Textbook Board has not yet printed the textbooks, according to the Directorate of Education. Textbooks aren’t given out for free in public schools, but they are freely available for purchase.
