Sources claim that a malfunction in the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited’s (PTCL) underwater cable SMW4 caused issues for internet customers. But according to PTCL authorities, a problem was found and fixed rather than a break in the underwater cable.

The officials state that PTCL services are now fully operational again, providing users with continuous internet access. A representative for the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said that the PTCL submarine cable experienced a problem, which was quickly resolved.

Additionally, the spokesman reported that there were no significant problems with internet access for subscribers at this moment. It should be recalled that a few days prior, a problem with the worldwide submarine cable SMW4 also caused internet services in Pakistan to be interrupted.

One of the seven underwater cables that link Pakistan to the international internet infrastructure is the SMW4 cable. According to a PTA representative, decreased internet speeds during high usage hours could result from this cable’s problem.
