Former Pakistan cricket team captain Shahid Afridi disclosed that he had a conversation with Suresh Raina regarding Raina’s social media post, leading to its deletion. The post deletion followed an X (formerly Twitter) user’s jab at Raina for not being named an ICC ambassador like Afridi for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.

Raina responded by reminiscing about the 2011 World Cup victory, prompting Afridi to discuss the matter on his YouTube channel, confirming that they resolved the issue through their conversation and maintaining mutual respect. Afridi emphasized their shared cricketing moments and described Raina as a good person.

Occasionally, amusing banter takes place. I spoke with him after viewing his social media post, and he was like a younger brother in understanding the issue. He consented to take down the tweet. Everything is OK; these things do occur. Great people own up to their errors and make corrections,” he continued.

Prior to this, Raina made a great jab at Afridi while responding to a commentary question from Aakash Chopra during the IPL 2024. When Chopra questioned Raina about his intentions to change his mind about retiring, he jokingly retorted, “I am Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi.”

Fans’ reactions to the debate when it went viral on social media were conflicting.

Shahid Afridi joins an esteemed cohort of ambassadors alongside Indian cricket stalwart Yuvraj Singh, the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle, and the fastest man on earth, Usain Bolt. Afridi’s name is synonymous with Pakistan’s most iconic moments in T20 World Cup history. His pivotal role propelled Pakistan to the final in the inaugural 2007 tournament and secured their triumph in the 2009 edition.
