NEW YORK: Following Pakistan’s defeat against India, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed disappointment with the team’s performance, stating that it indicates the need for a “major surgery”.

Speaking to reporters after the Pakistan vs India match at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, Naqvi described the loss against India as “disappointing in every sense”.

Despite an impressive performance by the bowlers, who restricted India to 119 after winning the toss, Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat by six runs.

Naqvi remarked that he understands the issues within the team leading to the losses. He initially thought minor adjustments would suffice but now believes a significant overhaul is necessary.

Regarding upcoming events, Naqvi mentioned the need to prepare for the Champions Trophy 2025 and emphasized the importance of integrating outside talent into the team.

Pakistan’s batting lineup failed to capitalize on opportunities, resulting in a disappointing loss against India. Their inability to chase down a modest target of 120 runs left them at 113 for 7, handing India an unexpected victory.

Despite a solid start by Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan lost wickets consistently, with India’s Jasprit Bumrah playing a pivotal role in securing their win with figures of 3-14.

India remains undefeated in Group A with two wins, while Pakistan, with zero points from two defeats, now faces uncertainty regarding qualification for the next stage after their earlier upset by the United States.
