Islamabad, 22 March 2025: Cricket excitement is set to return to Peshawar as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans an exhibition match at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium before Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
The highly anticipated clash will feature Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators on April 8, 2025, signifying a major step in reviving top-level cricket in the city.
Before the the much-awaited encounter, construction work at the stadium is expected to conclude, ensuring it is fully equipped to host the event.
This initiative is part of the broader strategy of PCB to expand PSL reach and reconnect with passionate fans in Peshawar, who have been eager for the return of the league.
A similar exhibition match was previously held in Quetta before PSL 8, generating widespread enthusiasm and setting a successful precedent.
Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi has consistently advocated for PSL games in Peshawar.
He previously met PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, stressing the need for the venue to be included as a PSL venue. His persistent efforts appear to have contributed to this latest development.
Meanwhile, the main tournament is set to begin on April 11, 2025. The opening match will see defending champions Islamabad United face Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
PSL 10 will feature six teams competing in 34 matches from April 11 to May 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium is scheduled to host 13 matches, including both Eliminators and the grand final.
This exhibition match in Peshawar is expected to reignite cricket fever in the city, bringing fans closer to the PSL action while strengthening PCB’s commitment to expanding the game across Pakistan.
