Islamabad, Sep 4: Sheikh Adnan, a shopkeeper kills teacher in Qissa Khwani Bazar, Peshawar, was the victim of a terrible crime that was allegedly sparked by violent video he watched on TikTok. For ten years, Mukhtar, the offender, was Adnan’s apprentice. He began as a young child looking for honest employment.
Nevertheless, Mukhtar’s actions have been darker lately. He found himself lured more and more to violent stuff in Pashto movies and on websites like TikTok. Those who knew him said that this exposure caused a radical shift in his behavior, which in turn caused him to fight frequently and cause trouble in his neighborhood.
Sheikh Adnan terminated Mukhtar’s apprenticeship six months ago due to his frightening change. Unfortunately, this choice caused the young man to become resentful, which led to a deadly altercation over 500 rupees.
As to the police records, Mukhtar had been visiting the shop regularly lately, appealing for Adnan to be given back his old position. But Adnan had already employed a substitute.
He pulled out a revolver and shot Adnan out of fury. After battling for his life for a full day, the shopkeeper regrettably passed away from his wounds after being taken to the hospital. Mukhtar has been detained by the local authorities, who have also opened an official investigation into the event.
As the community comes to terms with this horrific act of violence, a formal complaint has been filed at the Kabuli Police Station.
Citing an unsettling pattern in recent crimes, Peshawar police are concerned about the possible harm that the social media site TikTok may do to young people. Three young men from the city have died in different circumstances, which authorities say are directly related to problems arising from the usage of TikTok.
