Punjab’s Education Minister, Rana Sikandar Hayat, has made the decision to initiate early summer holidays for both public and private schools due to the ongoing heatwave. These holidays will commence from May 25th and extend until May 31st. The announcement received significant support from parents, with 96% backing the government’s proactive measure to safeguard children from the severe heat.

In a video message, Rana Sikandar Hayat emphasized the paramount importance of prioritizing student well-being and safety amidst the prevailing heatwave. He highlighted the overwhelming parental support, with 96% advocating for an early start to the summer vacation this week. “Ensuring our students’ welfare remains our utmost priority. Given the extreme temperatures, it’s imperative to take preemptive steps to ensure their safety,” he affirmed. Schools conducting examinations have been granted conditional permission to operate solely for exam purposes, provided they adhere to necessary precautions.

Earlier, the Punjab government had announced summer vacations from June 1st to August 14th due to the severe heatwave.
