Islamabad, Dec 3: Thieves caused power disruptions in Jamshoro, Matiari, and Dadu by stealing millions of rupees worth of brace plates from high-voltage transmission lines owned by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC).
According to FIRs filed by NTDC officials, over 960 brace plates, thousands of nuts and bolts, and conductors were taken from transmission towers, including a 500-kV line under construction.
While six suspects have been identified, no arrests have been made yet.
The stolen items are valued at up to Rs. 2 million, and authorities have yet to implement effective measures to curb these incidents.
Despite the presence of private security, such thefts remain common, with over 30 similar cases reported in Jamshoro alone. The provincial government has not yet come up with a viable strategy to prevent such crimes.
