ISLAMABAD, JULY16: It should come as no surprise that Chery Pakistan has raised the pricing of the Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro crossover SUVs. However, by including the freight and insurance costs in its ex-factory prices, the corporation has improved the pricing calculation slightly. Among the indigenous automakers, only Pak Suzuki and Changan Pakistan had the same approach, which is worth mentioning.
In other words, the price has changed twice: once for the new ex-factory price (which includes freight and insurance costs) and once for the new Withholding Tax (which is not related to the company and was imposed by the government in Budget 2024–25). Thus, these are the two cars’ updated prices.
Updated Prices for Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 8 Pro
The Tiggo 4 Pro’s ex-factory price has increased by Rs. 31,000 to Rs. 6,930,000 from the previous Rs. 6,899,000; freight and insurance costs are now included in this figure as well. In the meantime, the withholding tax is Rs. 419,958 for non-filers and Rs. 139,986 for filers.
After freight and insurance fees are taken into account, the price of Tiggo 8 Pro has increased from Rs. 9,550,000 to Rs. 9,585,000, a rise of Rs. 35,000. For this car, the withholding tax for non-filers is Rs. 193,617, while for filers, it is Rs. 580,851.
The updated prices will take effect on July 1, 2024.
Concerning Withholding Tax
The government unveiled its new automobile tax scheme for brand-new local cars in June 2024. The WHT tax on automobiles will now be determined by value, or the invoice price, under the updated policy. WHT was previously determined by engine size; however, the current policy suggests calculating WHT as a proportion of the car’s worth.
Keep in mind that the percentages for filers and non-filers differ. A larger portion of WHT will be paid by non-filers than by filers. When we previously covered this policy change, we merely mentioned the filers’ tax proportion. This is the revised table, which now also shows the tax rates for those who do not file:
