Today, the International Day of UN Peacekeepers is being observed worldwide to underscore the crucial role of UN peacekeeping forces in promoting global peace.

This year’s theme for the 2024 International Day of UN Peacekeepers is “Fit for the future, building better together.”

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) highlighted Pakistan’s significant contributions to UN peacekeeping efforts, demonstrating the nation’s steadfast commitment to international peace and security.

It emphasized that Pakistani peacekeepers remain dedicated to uplifting local communities in conflict zones.

Pakistani peacekeeping forces are renowned for their skill and dedication in fulfilling the missions of the United Nations peacekeeping operations.

Tragically, 171 Pakistani soldiers, including 27 officers, have made the ultimate sacrifice in UN peacekeeping missions to restore global peace.

ISPR also noted that Pakistan is among the top contributors to UN peace missions, with over 3,000 soldiers and officers currently serving in missions across various regions including the Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, Central African Republic, Cyprus, Western Sahara, and Somalia.

Since 1960, Pakistan has deployed a total of 235,000 soldiers in 48 UN peacekeeping missions spanning 29 countries, covering nearly all continents of the world.
