Islamabad, Aug 27: A normal vehicle going from Lahore to Islamabad would now cost Rs. 1210, up from Rs. 1100, due to an increase in the toll on the M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway. The M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway tolls for commercial cars have increased by as much as Rs. 600, according to a private news program. In particular, the cost of a coaster has gone up from Rs. 2240 to Rs. 2840, and the toll for a van going between Lahore and Islamabad is now Rs. 2030.
The tolls for heavy vehicles on the M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway are currently set at Rs. 4060 for buses, Rs. 5280 for trucks, and Rs. 6780 for trailers, in accordance with the recently announced tax rates. A representative for the Motorway Authority affirmed that all interchanges along the M2 Motorway are subject to the new toll prices.
The representative clarified that the toll increase is a part of the contractually mandated 10 percent yearly increase. Travelers, however, have voiced their dissatisfaction with the higher tolls, claiming that the difficult nature of travel has increased due to inflation and growing living expenditures.
In a different event, four people were found dead and one unconscious in a car parked along the M2 Motorway near Bhera, according to Motorway Police. Subsequently, the lone survivor of a catastrophic event revealed that they had consumed juice and pastries purchased from a bakery prior to losing consciousness.
