ISLAMABAD, JULY20: The top bus manufacturer in the world, Yutong, has revealed intentions to build a new facility in Karachi specifically for the production of electric vehicles (EV) and intra-city buses. This choice was made in response to an invitation sent in July 2022 by Senior Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon.
Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said that Yutong’s CEO for the Middle East and other business representatives recently traveled to Karachi to complete the arrangements. The plant’s construction is scheduled to start in three months and be finished by the following year. This plant will produce diesel hybrid buses in addition to electric buses.
The minister outlined a number of advantages of this new endeavor, such as the support of regional businesses, the generation of a large number of job possibilities, and the possible savings in foreign cash due to domestic bus production. It is also anticipated that Pakistan will get significant economic advantages from the export of these locally made buses.
