In Pakistan, 2-wheelers have traditionally been a budget-friendly mode of transportation. However, with rising fuel prices, traditional petrol-based vehicles are becoming less affordable. As of February 1, 2025, the price of petrol has increased to PKR 257.13 per liter. In such circumstances, electric 2-wheelers could be the solution to the high cost of transportation. Moreover, as more women enter the workforce in Pakistan, the need for affordable transportation for everyone is rising. That’s why we’ve put together a list of the top locally assembled electric bikes and scooters in Pakistan, catering to both women and men.

Affordability – Petrol vs. EV Bikes

For comparison, a typical petrol-powered 2-wheeler in Pakistan, like a 70cc, achieves around 53 km/l, 125cc bikes around 45 km/l, and 150cc bikes around 35 km/l. With petrol priced at PKR 257.13 per liter, the per-km cost for each bike would be:

  • 70cc: PKR 257.13 ÷ 53 km/l ≈ PKR 4.85 per km
  • 125cc: PKR 257.13 ÷ 45 km/l ≈ PKR 5.72 per km
  • 150cc: PKR 257.13 ÷ 35 km/l ≈ PKR 7.34 per km

On the other hand, electric bikes, typically equipped with a 23-50 Ah battery and a motor ranging from 800W to 1800W, consume about 0.5-2 units of electricity per charge. As of February 2025, electricity prices in Pakistan vary based on consumption slabs, ranging from PKR 4.10 to PKR 34 per unit. Assuming an average rate of PKR 10 per unit, the per-km cost for an electric bike would be:

  • Electric Bike: Assuming 1.5 units per 60 km charge: (1.5 units × PKR 10) ÷ 60 km ≈ PKR 0.25 per km

This makes electric bikes significantly more cost-effective than petrol-powered bikes.
