Islamabad, Apr 28, 2025: Toyota has officially revealed the production-ready version of its all-electric bZ7 sedan at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, marking a major milestone in the brand’s electric vehicle (EV) expansion in China.
Developed in collaboration with GAC-Toyota, the bZ7 is the first car from this partnership to integrate Huawei’s HarmonyOS cockpit system, a platform designed specifically for Chinese consumers by Toyota’s Regional-Chief Engineer team.
From Prototype to Reality
The Toyota bZ7 concept made its debut at the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show, but the version unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show is the finalized production model.
This change signals Toyota’s commitment to fine-tuning its vehicles to meet the demands and preferences of local markets.
Exterior Design Highlights
The bZ7 boasts a streamlined, closed-off front grille, accentuated by sharp C-shaped headlights that extend across the width of the car.
A lidar sensor mounted on the roof hints at the inclusion of sophisticated advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
Given its integration with Huawei’s HarmonyOS, it is likely that the car will also feature Huawei’s ADS driving technology.
At the rear, the bZ7 flaunts a wide taillight strip, an elevated brake light, and a compact rear spoiler, adding a sportier aesthetic. Its side profile showcases a fastback roofline that flows gracefully into the rear spoiler.

Additionally, the car features semi-hidden door handles and striking 21-inch multi-spoke wheels.
While the concept model included digital side mirrors, the production version has reverted to traditional mirrors and conventional door handles for a more practical design.
Interior Comfort and Technology
Inside the cabin, the Toyota bZ7 offers a futuristic layout with ambient lighting throughout the space.
The dashboard features a floating touchscreen, a built-in digital instrument cluster, and a sleek three-spoke steering wheel.
The center console is equipped with wireless charging pads for added convenience.
A panoramic sunroof enhances the open, airy feel of the interior, offering a premium experience for passengers.
Powertrain Details Still Pending
While Toyota has yet to release specific details regarding the powertrain, further announcements are expected later in the year as the bZ7 nears its official market release.
GAC-Toyota’s Impressive Start to 2025
The launch of the bZ7 comes during a period of strong sales growth for GAC-Toyota.
In the first quarter of 2025, the joint venture sold 171,477 vehicles, with 66,066 of those units sold in March alone, reflecting a 19.3% year-over-year growth.
In addition to the new bZ7, the GAC-Toyota partnership also offers the bZ3X and bZ4X models in China as part of its expanding bZ electric vehicle lineup.
By adapting to local trends and leveraging cutting-edge technology, Toyota’s bZ7 is poised to make a significant impact on China’s electric vehicle market, reaffirming the brand’s dedication to innovation and sustainability.
